Hi, and the 4th of July

Well, there we go again, leaving you high and dry, wondering "Where are they!?" As it turns out, we've been up to a lot, including traveling. I'm not such a good blogger while we're traveling. Will you forgive me?

There's so much to catch you up on! Summer has been so good to us, and Emma is growing and changing and learning faster than ever. I don't even know where to start!

How about...the 4th of July? Such a fun holiday.

The day began with Emma eating a banana. (Hang in there, this paragraph will get better.) Emma eats bananas all the time, but this was her first time eating one like a big girl right out of the peel and not chopped up. She was excited, and we couldn't help but capture her excitement because it was really cute.

After some morning errands, it was home to really enjoy the day. Emma wore a sweet cotton red, white, and blue dress. Here she is asking MoMo to read to her. I'm pretty sure it's a book about kitties. She loves kitties and doggies, and this book has pages where you can pull kitties' tails, pet them, touch their noses, etc. We read it, like, 10,000 times a day, along with a few of her other favorites that have flaps to lift up and make Mama and Daddy talk in funny voices.  

Outside, Elvis the neighborhood kitty found Emma. They like each other a lot, if you can't tell.



After hanging with Elvis, Emma wandered over to her pool and decided it would be way more fun to swim instead of walk around in a pretty dress. So, in she went. The cool water felt good; it was a hot day!

She then blew some "bu-bu" (translation: bubbles) with Daddy.

After a yummy dinner and bath, she helped Grandma water her outside flowers. Emma started with her little watering can

but somehow ended up with Grandma's. She pretty much wanted to be everywhere Grandma was and do everything Grandma was doing. 

Just before dark, we headed out to the front yard to play and watch fireworks. My parents live in a city just outside of Wichita where fireworks are allowed, so it only takes walking out the front door to see a big show. We don't usually set any off, but the boys set some off the night before the 4th because we had friends in town and they brought them over.

Pre-fireworks, look who made an appearance? That Elvis knew just where to come to get some attention.

Daddy and Emma played with her ball in the front yard. It's one of their favorite pasttimes.

Emma ended up loving the fireworks, loud pops and all. She was super tired and didn't last too long outside, but I did get a few pictures of us with her before she headed inside for bed.
